There is an animal shelter that I've been wanting to volunteer at for a while. I finally got there this weekend.
It is called AWARE and is two short bus rides from Antigua. They have around 400 animals right now- about 80 cats and the rest dogs. I've been missing having a cat around, so I very much enjoyed cuddling with them :)

I was very nervous to take a chicken bus to get there. A friend from my house came with me, but she had never ridden the buses in Guatemala before.
Thankfully we made it no problems! And now I'm a little less scared of taking the bus, though I would still prefer my car any day. |

After the bus rides we had about a mile and a half walk.
It was kind of a rainy day, but had mostly stopped by this point. |
