Happy Valentine's!

Some of you know that I was sick a few weeks ago and had to visit the hospital.  They kept me overnight for antibiotics- my first hospital stay ever!

This is the hospital.  It is a private hospital; the public one doesn't always have medicine or beds.

View from my room.
Rosa de jamaica, soup, chicken, rice, guisquil (the green vegetable), tortillas, and cantalope.

Cave Art

The first day they had to paint with sticks and things they found outside.
They were supposed to be drawing animals... I have no explanation...

Reading Time!

Deciding which book to read first.

Sushi Night
Right now in my house are a lot of Japanese students, some from Taiwan, and 1 from Korea.  They know where to go for good sushi!  I don't care for it much myself, but they let me sample their dishes and I got chicken :)

Titanic sushi

Banana roll-  sushi with a Guatemalan touch.

Some more from school...

Practicing our Kindness verse.  Some of them need it more than others.

Ultimamente...

Some of my pictures (and some borrowed) of school, Antigua, etc. lately.

Happy 100 Days of School!
I can't believe how fast this year is going!

Our newly-carpeted playground area
Science Fair.  Put on by the 5th - 11th graders, but my kids had a lot of fun going around and seeing all the projects!

Art tree. (Have I shared this before?)

Sunny Sunday morning with some friends and co-workers :)

Beautiful Skies

I don't know how I missed sharing this with you.  It's from December and maybe the most amazing picture I've taken this year!  (It actually had a slight double rainbow, but this photo turned out best.)

A Belated Christmas and beginning of 2014

Christmas at Home

Back to Guatemala

Volcan Fuego showing off for us
My sister and I exploring Antigua

town of San Juan del Obispo, about 15 mins. from Antigua
We visited a convent (ring the doorbell for a personally guided tour by one of the sisters.)
There was a family-run chocolate shop in San Juan that we visited.  The lady gave us our own personal tour of how they make chocolate.  They have samples of the different flavors and she heated up some Rice Chocolate for us to try.   I loved the Coffee Chocolate and the roasted chocolate beans!  This was a much better stop than the expensive chocolate museum in downtown Antigua.

Copan, Honduras:  Mayan Ruins
Central Park

This Mayan site is known for its hieroglyphics and the detail that remains in the art work and writing.

What the view might have looked like for the Mayans.
